Chicago Firm Puts Forward South Side Bears Stadium Concept

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the Chicago architecture firm identified in ABC7 Chicago’s report, has put forward renderings for a proposed Bears stadium near the current White Sox location. NBC 5 Chicago also describes the concept as a South Side pitch. The reports present the development as a design proposal, not a construction start or a confirmed stadium decision.

For Chicago residents, the South Side location is the clearest local detail in the coverage: the pitch places a possible Bears venue near where the White Sox currently play. The information supplied with the reports does not identify a more precise address or parcel, so the location should not be treated as a specific site selection.

The proposal is attributed to Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and the reported work is described as renderings. That establishes the existence of an architectural pitch, but the source items provide no further description of the drawings. They do not specify a stadium’s size, cost, construction schedule or accompanying development. Those details are not established in the material available here.

ABC7’s report highlights the firm’s renderings and the location near the current White Sox site, while NBC 5 frames the idea as a South Side pitch. Both accounts point to a general location, rather than providing enough information to establish precise boundaries or next steps. The supplied accounts also do not say that the Bears have chosen the design or location, or describe city approval. For now, the reported news is that a Chicago firm has presented a stadium concept tied to the South Side.
